Building Unity in a Team
Posted on Nov 21, 2007 under Team Coaching |Players must all feel like they deserve or earn the privilege of being on a team. Most often they must experience something terribly difficult or endure a common experience during the season. These experiences often build unity on the team.
Try this technique with your players, and set team goals that rely on individual accomplishment. For example set a timed mile run goal for your team. The whole team must run a mile in a set time. If one person fails, the whole team runs again the next day. This continues until the whole team has reached the goal. In the end, the group overcomes the obstacle and is stronger both physically, but more importantly mentally. They have a strong sense of accomplishment and a pride in making the team.
