We as coaches constantly look for ways to motivate our players. In the next four months we will directly examine the behavior of coaches and how it motivates athletes, both positively and negatively. General observations will be made on behavior along with specific suggestions for motivating your players.
Coaches are always looking for the magic words to motivate their players. There are no enchanted phrases that will turn our players into superstars, but we can examine how we, as coaches, interact with our players and how it affects their overall satisfaction and performance.

The invention and use of video tape has helped to change scouting and teaching in many programs. Listed below are several ideas that may be of interesting developing or improving your video program.
1. Edit opponent game tapes down to a highlight tape showing only their key plays and tendencies.
2. Put together a teaching tape of correct execution of plays and sets to teach young players.
3. Film a particular player to show any lack of effort.
3. Edit college or professional game tapes to show techniques that are being emphasized.
5. Start a “hustle” tape in which second effort players are added after each game and show it to the team.
